The leaflet suggests a walk through Cortina d’Ampezzo and a visit to an example of Cultural Heritage (the Museum of Modern Art ‘Mario Rimoldi’) and an example of Environmental Heritage (the Natural Park of the Dolomites of Ampezzo)

DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT

The development of the project has followed the same operative methodology for the realization of all the three themes proposed.

First Phase

- Definition of Cultural Heritage
- Definition of Environmental Heritage
- Thematic examples

Second Phase

Investigation on the territory

- Visit to the Museum of Modern Art ‘Mario Rimoldi’

The Museum Mario Rimoldi houses an important collection of works of Italian painters of the XX century

- Guided excursion in the park of the Dolomites of Ampezzo

The research on the territory had the purpose to establish and record the feasibility of three walking itineraries meant with different levels of difficulty and duration in order to realize a tourist brochure (walk for experienced people, average difficult walk and walk for disabled people)

- Visit to the village of Corte di Cadore

Inaugurated in 1958 by Enrico Mattei (the founder of Eni) as a holiday resort for six thousand people, the village of Corte di Cadore lies on the right bank of the Valle del Boite, northbound direction from Tai di Cadore.
The charm of Corte is due to its uniqueness given by the intense landscape and three important names : Edoardo Gellner, Carlo Scarpa and Enrico Mattei, who wanted to create harmony between man and environment by pursuing a reciprocal balance. According to Gellner, the simplest architectural design was recommended to cope with and contrast the barereness of the surrounding.

The whole complex of the village of Corte di Cadore is totally hidden in the green and distinguished by many lively coloured and energetic details, From red to turquoise and yellow.

- Visit to the church of St John the Baptist at Vinigo di Cadore

Vinigo, a small neighbourhood of Vodo di Cadore, 900 metres above the sea level, is a village of few tens people living in full tranquillity, pretty isolated from the surrounding world and distant from the state road 51 of Alemagna, Cortina d’Ampezzo direction. The heart of the village is made up of a large vegetable garden subdivided into small rectangles intensively farmed dominated by the slightly raised building church of St John the Baptist.

The origins of the church go back to the XV century, namely 1493 when it was built much smaller than the present building.

- Route along the state road of Alemagna from Cortina to Dobbiaco

The road linking Cortina d’Ampezzo to Dobbiaco has been driven with many stops to get the opportunity to analyse some different examples of old traditional hotel hospitality. For example :

- the hospice of Ospitale, nowadays a renowned traditional restaurant
- the Grand Hotel of Dobbiaco, now a cultural centre
- the Ploner Hotel at Carbonin that preserves its image intact as well as its original function
- the Hotel Bauer, on the Dobbiaco lake, renovated and restored and looking like a little charming castle on the water.

Third Phase

- Study of the landscape
- Collection of historical information
- Draw up of study cards
- Graphic, cartographic and photographic documentation
- Meetings with local historians : interviews.

Fourth Phase

- Study and design of the brochure and leaflets and of the items useful for the dissemination
- Analysis of the technical-formal characteristics of a tourist brochure/leaflet : target, content, images, colour, lettering
- Collection of the materials useful for the realization of a brochure/leaflet, postcards, etc.
- Realization of sketches and study
- Set up of the lettering
- Study on the relationship between shape, colour and lettering
- Realization of the prototypes
- Printing of the prototype

Fifth Phase

The work for the three graphic projects has been carried out according to the following operative modes :

- In group
- Singularly
- With the support of a teacher/tutor
- Through several project meetings to check the development of the work
- With the support of external experts (experts of history and graphics) and the owners of the properties and hotels studied

- Evaluation of the final results as related to the objectives
- Evaluation of the level of learning achieved by the students as related to the theme proposed
- Evaluation of the acquired knowledge and competences
