The meeting of Faro, organized by Rosaria Pospero and Evgueni Beliaev was under the sign of dance. The Centro cultural Beliaev and its dancers from the Algarve present their international dance recital, Azul, on the scene of the Teatro das Figuras in Faro, in front of an impressed public, of which the italian, french and romanian partners are a part !

Indeed, here the languages of the blue are, before anything else, gestural and choreographic. The sky of Algarve in which the gracious seabirds evolve, the thousand shades of the ocean and its islands are a symbiosis between the earth, air and water, a source where the resonance, the words and the pulsations of the dance are drawn from.

The meeting of Faro is also under the sign of another very famous blue: the azulejo. As in most portuguese cities, the blue spreads in Faro in the form of shimmering azulejos on the facades of the walls, in the streets, on the places, in the gardens and the palaces. On these blue ceramic panels, a figurative art that is typical of Portugal is illustrated.

Welcomed at the school Secondaire Joao de Deus by Fernando Palma Gomes, its director, the participants have been invited to take part in an azulejos workshop conducted by Emilia Amaral and Rosaria Prospero. They were delighted by the experience. The questions multiply: Rrom were do the pigments used in this technique come from? What is the origin of the azulejos?

It is a very motivated public that will then visit two magnificent examples of azulejos that are encrypted in the civil and religious architecture of the city, with Natalia Oliviera, assistant director of the Palace of Estoi and Rosaria Prospero: the azulejos of the palace of Estoi and those of the little chapel São Lorenço, not far from Faro, in the province of the Algarve, are part of the most famous blues of Portugal.

Created by Aline Rutily, artist, author of installations called Tapis-Jardins, a Intercultural Blue Carpet was born in Estoi Palace. Made of different blue : French, Romanian, Italian and Portuguese, this carpet has been placed on the floor of the Palace. This installation is a work in process , intended to extend more and more over the next meetings of the artist with her partners in Europe.

This meeting in Faro is also the occasion to precise the summary of the collective book on the languages of the blue which’s output should be in 2011.
