This lesson, concerning Grundtvig project, was given by professor Angela Marchetti on Thursday October 25th 2012 for the opening of the academic year at Montecchio Emilia’s popular University.
The paper tries to explain that dealing with myths means dealing with present and future as myths refer to a timeless humanity and timeless situations. References are to Homer’s work, to the Greek tragedies and to philosophy, which, by introducing the scientific thought, has made us orphans of the mythical explanation.
The paper ends with a challenge: if we want to live again the fullness of our time, without renouncing sense, emotions and pleasure, we must return to the myth, which, however, was considered a kind of absolute knowledge just by the people that was and still is the pride of humanity.
