Besides the presentation of the Italian team, their tasks and objectives, the aim of the meeting is to get informed about experiences around the landscape carried out in the Dolomites, in particular the realization of the travel notebook, object of a proper pedagogical card.

Another step is the evaluation of the work undertaken and fulfilled by the different partners : Polo Valboite of Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy and the Güzel Santlar Ve Spor Lisesi in Mugla, Turkey. The issue of the project is the professional introduction of the youth into the working sector of the landscape and its impact on cultural tourism.

The Association Artiste No Tahiti is involved in the project of favouring the integration in the working fields linked to the traditions of French Polynesia. A specific knowledge of the territory along with the cultural and artistic traditions of the island will provide a different outlook and new perspectives.

There is the need to face an essential step in the project : the final list of the cards composing the pedagogical module to be set on-line in the web site of the Association Paysage et patrimoine sans frontière dedicated to the project. The list of topics will show the rationale behind the project : a module progressing from the perceived landscape to the built up one.

The meeting in Cortina d’Ampezzo also offers the opportunity of experimenting a part of the training on the spot, in particular the instruments to discover the landscape proposed by the Association Paysage et sans frontière from Saint Germain-en-Laye and by the École Nationale Supérieure du Paysage de Versailles, the silent partner of the French association.

From the perception of the landscape to the words to tell it. A virtual landscape logbook, Carnet virtuel de paysage, is realized on the place by the participants : an instrument destined to the trainee for building and showing his/her personal project of landscape.

To be and collect : ‘to import’ the landscape as perceived and build up one’s own landscape.

This activity is led by Véronique Laulier, a landscape expert and teacher, responsible for the lifelong learning at the École Nationale du Paysage of Versailles and trainer in the Association Paysage et patrimoine sans frontière.

‘It is necessary to point out that the place chosen for the outdoor experiment is an area frequently visited by the students when walking outside with their teachers for their naturalistic surveys. It is, actually, a winding path presenting various aspects : shadowy spots, a gentle slope towards a little bridge crossing a stream, then an uphill walk to see the entire crown of the mountains against the sky overlooking a green valley.

The training sequence is all the morning long : the students have walked around the site for an hour ; they have noticed how they have been caught by their solitary, sensorial walk where they have ‘seized’ the space by moving to and fro along and out of the path, in the fields and on the uneven banks of the stream. Later on they have come to school and realized their works in about one hour and half.

Some first works have been realized ; each student has explained hers and discussed it with the teachers thus acquiring confidence with this new approach of interpreting her work.

The moments of the setting up of the materials and of the creation of the first works followed by other ones after the commenting have been duly photographed. The students have appreciated the freedom by which they have been able to act. Through this new mode they have approached nature in a totally different manner guided only by forms and colours and the atmosphere surrounding their research ‘which is not usual’.

They want to take other photos of the result of their ‘discovery’ and want to do the exercise again. Those who have been shy at the start up of the experiment have acquired confidence as it develops and tell their story about the experience, which is quite moving and meaningful.’
