Printable versionThis workshop is in line with the proposed projects to schools by networks of Biosphere Reserves and UNESCO Associated Schools, on the occasion of the International Year of Forests.
At Beatrice Dupoux’s invitation , national coordinator of the associated school Unesco network, in the French Commission for Unesco , Aline Rutily , visual artist , has led an “carnet de forêt “ worshop on the landscape notebook model who she designed for the European training course “ The garden , a living monument “

In the approach proposed by Aline Rutily in connection with his own visual work, the forest notebook is both tool and work. Thread, trace support, it is the memory of the trail in the forest and the comments it generates. It articulates different languages: writing, photography, collage, painting, drawing … It is the starting point for facilities in situ, herbarium sheets, virtual notebooks on line …
The Participants experiment a "wooded area" with mirrors and frames, they are encouraged to be attentive to the textures and colors of trees, vegetation, soil. To see through the shadows thickened by nightfall, they use the flashlight to illuminate, as if by magic, a portion of forest and observe the details.

Each enrols with spontaneity his impressions of the forest, his discoveries, what he feels. In this exercise you invent adjectives of color, expression, association of ideas.
The photographies reflect what has been observed: the songs of forest area circumscribed by frames and mirrors, flares lit by flashlights. Directed toward the sky, soil, trunks of trees or animals seen near or far, these tools show every time views unpublished images news that is varied by moving his body in the space.
The tales, stories and poems, paintings, sculptures, photographies and other works of artists of yesterday and today on the theme of forests and trees, are a contribution to the imaginary and used to start the axes of work on realization of the pages of the notebook.

Through the intervention of Jean Soulier, President of Paysage et patrimoine sans frontière, trainer in the use of online tools on this site, the participants discover the process of creating a virtual notebook of forest.
